Care Instructions

Cleaning & Storage

All our pieces are handmade using plated metals, semi-precious, glass and crystal beads.  Each piece is unique and therefore may vary in size, tone and finish.  Every metal except pure gold or platinum will eventually tarnish.

As with any product, the life span of your Grace + Jodie jewelry will depend on the care you give it. Here are some suggestions to help you keep your jewelry looking new.

  •  Clean your jewelry with a soft cloth after each wear before putting it away. This will help prevent tarnish as it removes the oils from your skin and debris picked   up throughout the day.

  •  Put your jewelry on only AFTER you have dressed and applied any cosmetics, hairspray, perfume, lotions and other chemicals - these can dull and even   harm your jewelry.

  •  Remove jewelry before going to bed. Wearing them to sleep will cause unnecessary stress on the piece and make them more likely to break.

  •  Remove jewelry before doing household chores, especially when washing dishes. Many household cleaners contains chemicals such as bleach or other harsh  components that are harmful to jewelry.

  •  Do not wear your jewelry when swimming or in the shower.

  •  With gold filled metals or any gold plated metals humidity is the enemy - so whenever you're not wearing your jewelry, store it in a cool, dry place away from   direct sunlight.

  •  Keep each of your jewelry pieces separated to avoid scratching. We strongly recommend storing it in an air-tight bag or container.

  •  Always last on, first off.

Each jewelry piece purchased from Grace + Jodie will include an anti-tarnish tab and a pouch for you to store them so you could wear them for as long as possible!

ANTI-TARNISH TAB:

These squares are a special absorbent paper that incorporates 3M Tarni-Shield Technology. This technology is designed to inhibit tarnish or discoloration of metals in transit or storage. They protect jewelry, flatware, serving pieces, musical instruments, trophies and other items. Strips protect silver, nickel, copper, bronze, brass, tin, pewter and gold.

They are completely safe and do not emit any toxic chemicals.

Without proper care for your Grace + Jodie jewelry (e.g. not removing these jewels before bed, during shower or swimming) over time, the gold plating will start to wear. This is the normal wear and tear process and is not a result of a manufacturing defect.

Care for Bead woven Jewelry

Your bead woven jewelry is made from hundreds and even thousands of beads sewn/woven together in an intricate weave.  This higher quality variety of beads are miniscule pieces of glass and their delicate nature is part of their beauty.  Take care when wearing your jewelry to not hit any hard surfaces.
